Colorism in the Latinx Community
By Abigail Hollie, with contributions from the RIDC Team
During Latinx Heritage Month and all the time, it’s important that we ask and explore the following:
How do we see these themes of colorism and internalized racism show up within the Latinx Community?
How does colorism play a role in hiring and promoting within the running industry?
Check out our research to investigate and challenge, or support, your findings.
We know that 1) Representation of Hispanic/Latinx employees in the running industry remains disparately low (8%) when compared to the US population (19%) and 2) only 3% of running industry senior management leadership positions are occupied by Hispanic/Latinx employees.
