RIDC Media & Events Round Up January 2025

Rising Hearts is raising funds for our athlete, advocate, and community member Jinghuan who unfortunately lost their home during the wildfires in Los Angeles. Donations to Jinghuan will help her with securing a place to live, clothing for her children, and more needed to rebuild. Click here to donate.

Generations of Altadena’s historic Black neighborhoods have been devastated by the Eaton Fire. The loss could further drive inequalities for the families of California’s first middle-class Black community. Check out this list of links to support and donate to Black families who have been displaced.

Game Changers, led by Vanessa Peralta-Michell, is partnering with New York Road Runners to launch a dedicated New York City cohort. Participants will receive RRCA Certification, business strategy training, mentorship, and a paid apprenticeship.

Cascade PBS is hosting its third annual Explore the Outdoors Family Fair with Alison Mariella Désir. This free community event will take place on February 1st in Seattle, WA to celebrate the outdoors, with organizations advocating for the reclamation of outdoor spaces for underrepresented communities. Attendees will enjoy games, workshops and interactive opportunities for people of all ages.

The Running Industry Awards have been officially launched for 2025 as a partnership between Running Industry Alliance (RIA), RunEvents and England Athletics. The program will celebrate work done across six defined categories of: events, communities, brands, retail, charity and media. Further details about the awards categories, nominations, voting and tickets will be announced in spring 2025.
