Advancing Change: A Year of Progress and Research Plans

April 2023 Newsletter

As I celebrated my one-year anniversary as the leader of this organization, I was humbled and inspired by the strides we have made in advancing our work to create a more equitable running industry. Despite current political and social climate challenges, our dedication to fulfilling the RIDC mission remains steadfast.

Last year, we shared our plans for new research surrounding employment, access, inclusion, and belonging. After a year-long process, we are wrapping up these innovative projects to help create a baseline for the industry to build upon.

This research is a critical milestone in our ongoing efforts. By the RIDC harnessing the power of data to hold the industry accountable, we can move towards an integrated future where racial justice is part of every aspect of the running world. Our goal of creating a truly racially diverse, inclusive, and equitable industry is not a far-off dream but an achievable reality.

Coming soon: We understand that actual progress requires continued engagement, and we will ensure our research is more than just a static report. We plan to engage with the RIDC community and industry leaders through roundtable discussions to gather further insights, best practices, and actionable plans to complement our findings.

By facilitating meaningful dialogue, embracing shifts that may occur given new data, and capturing emerging perspectives, we can ensure that our research translates into real-world impact. We plan to release our findings over the next few months via the RIDC website, newsletter, and social media channels.

Seeing our research integrated into company business goals for years to come is a highly anticipated outcome. Stay tuned for what's next. This is going to be big!
