Champion Highlight: Guarina Lopez

An RIDC Champion is someone who is actively doing the work of the mission and vision of our organization and is a living example of the goals we have.

Our next champion is Guarina Lopez—Native, woman, artist, activist, runner, yogi, mother. Through all of these roles she is the founder of Native Women Ride, as well as many creative spaces such as Call Me by My Name Project and Modern Natives Personal Regalia. She is a true champion of the intersectionality of the earth and its many groups of diverse people—many of whom have been lucky enough to be captured by Guarina’s camera lens.

In addition to all the inspiring artwork she does she also works actively with both Renew Earth Running and Women Run the Vote, who most recently completed their third Women Run the Vote relay to raise funds for Black Voters Matter. When we caught up with Guarina, she shared some of her beautiful self-portraits as well as what inspires her in the spaces she holds and creates.
